The water others can’t reach
Lava Creek Lodge operates a fleet of three aircraft — two wheel planes and a floatplane — based right at the lodge. Gravel bars, remote airstrips, alpine lakes: the planes put you on water most anglers never see.
Most fly-outs are within 20 minutes of the lodge, so you spend the day fishing, not flying. Some destinations are walk-and-wade; others have boats staged and waiting. Here are three of our favorites:
WIND RIVER
(King Salmon Paradise – Exclusive Access)About 30 miles from the lodge, Wind River is our premier King Salmon destination. We land on a small lake, walk a short trail to a waiting boat, and swing flies through classic runs all day. Lava Creek Lodge holds exclusive access to the lower river.
COHO CREEK
(Wogging for Silvers Close to Home)Five minutes by air, Coho Creek shares a drainage with our home river. A boat is staged here, and the water is some of the best "wogging" water for Silver Salmon in the region. The numbers, the setting, and the water clarity make it a guest favorite.
LAVA CREEK
(Spring Creek Walk & Wade )Ten minutes by wheel plane, Lava Creek offers walk-and-wade fishing across three designated beats. The spring-fed creek is the main Sockeye spawning ground in the area, drawing in Rainbows, Dolly Varden, and at times, dry fly and mouse fishing. Gin-clear water, wild trout.
